How to solve the four major problems in China's foundry industry

As the saying goes, being backward means being beaten. In the casting industry, especially in the cast steel industry, China lags behind the developed countries for more than ten years in the overall technology, among which the biggest four points are always dragging China behind.

1. Low technological level and poor casting quality

Casting processing allowance is large, difficult to control the deformation problem, the consumption of raw materials is serious. Immature process will lead to cracks in the casting, and even defects such as entrained air and inclusion, resulting in low casting yield and pass rate.

2. High energy consumption and raw material consumption

The energy consumption of foundry industry in China accounts for 25% ~ 30% of the total energy consumption of machinery industry, and the average energy utilization rate is 17%. The energy consumption is about twice that of the developed countries. Energy consumption for every 1 ton of qualified steel castings is 800 ~ 1000 kg standard coal in our country and 500 ~ 800 kg standard coal in foreign countries.

3. Serious environmental pollution and bad working environment

Those dark, dusty workshops are not an isolated case. In our country, processing enterprises with obsolete equipment, backward technology and lack of environmental protection measures everywhere. Foundry enterprises with poor production site environment, poor working conditions, backward technology and extensive production account for more than 90%, which is extremely disproportionate to China's status as a major foundry country.

4. Talent shortage

At present, our country is in the dilemma of shortage of casting technology talents, which is mainly manifested in:

(1) The number of technical and managerial personnel is relatively small and the distribution is uneven. The technical and managerial personnel in the least factories only account for 12% of the total number of employees, and the number in the most factories accounts for 323%, a difference of 27 times. The proportion of state-owned enterprises, especially military enterprises, is high.

(2) Casting enterprises are in urgent need of senior talents. Most of the employees are from technical secondary schools, junior colleges, graduate students, or even undergraduates.

(3) Difficulty in sourcing new talents. The proportion of foundry majors in the new generation of colleges and universities is getting lower, and the factory-run schools of some large and medium-sized enterprises are also on the decline, making it increasingly difficult to source new talents.

These problems have been built up over a long period of time. Nothing can be built in a day, nor can they be solved in a short time.
